Apache Heraldry

The Apache Heraldry Project, part of Apache’s Incubator program, is an effort to develop technologies around the emerging user-centric identity space. It is currently focusing on creating libraries and applications to support OpenID. Interest has also been expressed in working to develop libraries to support Microsoft’s Card Space effort which will be part of Windows Vista.

EastMedia, JanRain?, NetMesh?, Sxip?, VeriSign and other parties have contributed various software pieces to the project. EastMedia developed the Rails OpenID Server and the Consumer Plugin.
